Motorhome Chapter Spotlight | Family Motor Coach Association
Active and adventuresome FMCA members explore the Four Corners region and beyond.

Visits to Utah's Bryce Canyon and Zion national parks were highlights of our very active FMCA chapter's 25th anniversary celebration rally in September 2011. In 1986 the Cuatro Estados chapter was established to explore and enjoy the many adventures offered in the Four Corners states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. Most of our members hail from these states.
Cuatro Estados is Spanish for "four states."
"The Spirit of Adventure" is our chapter's motto, and exploring and learning while having fun is our goal. Our group of approximately 52 families spans many age brackets, types of motorhomes, and levels of interest. At Bryce Canyon, many of us took the 3-mile hike down into the canyon and back out again, in awe of the scenery, which prompted participants to take hundreds of pictures. At Zion we did likewise, and we rode the shuttle to see all the stops, take many more photos, and learn about the area at the Human History Museum.
One of our longtime member couples, Bob and Marie Faucette, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on the 2-mile hike in Zion Narrows! Now that's an inspiration to the younger crowd to get up and keep moving.
While not all of our rallies can be this inspirational, we do strive to expose ourselves to outdoor adventures and learn about history and nature. Coincidentally, a majority of us own off-road vehicles, so we go on "runs" if it's possible in the area.
Of course, fun, food, and fellowship are going on all the time as well. And we don't just stay in the Four Corners states; we've caravanned in parts of Texas and California as well.
The Cuatro Estados also are involved in the Rocky Mountain Area rallies and have volunteered in multiple capacities through the years. We were even part of the entertainment a couple of times, winning the chapter skit competition in both cases. In addition, we provided a large group of volunteers to assist with FMCA's international convention in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in March 2010.
We hold rallies every month of the year except December, when we have a Christmas party. You can read the entire 2012 schedule on our Web site, http://www.cuatroestados.com/. Next year, some of our destinations include Quartzsite, Arizona; Moab, Utah; and Silverton, Colorado. At our Web site you'll also find a membership application; dues are $40 per couple the first year and $15 per year thereafter ($20 and $7.50, respectively, for singles). We'd love for you to attend a rally as our guest.
