Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How do I find a chapter in my area whose members share certain
interests, such as golfing?
You can locate a chapter with a particular special
interest by looking in the "Chapter Directory," which appears in the
January and August issues of Family Motor Coaching magazine.
The "Chapter Directory" is a compilation of more than 400 chapters with
the names of their officers, their special interest, and
the chapter’s mailing address.

How can I form a chapter, since there isn't one available in a
reasonable proximity?
You can form a chapter with the help of a formation
kit. To obtain a kit,
call the Chapter Services Department at the FMCA
national office. Chapter formation kits also are available
at FMCA area
rallies and international conventions. Or, ask your area vice
president to obtain a kit for you.
The Chapter Services Department will also process a
mailing to aid you in gauging interest in a chapter in your area.
FMCA non-chapter Members can be
sorted by coach brands, zip codes or states.

How do we order chapter officer
attachment plates for our chapter officers, similar to those of the
national directors?
Chapters wishing to purchase chapter officer
attachment plates may contact the Chapter Services Department at the
national office to request an order form. This form includes a
complete list of the attachment plates that are available.
Top
How can I obtain attachment plates with my chapter name?
You can obtain chapter attachment plates by
contacting the National Office for the order form or by contacting
Kiley Mold at (513) 875-3223.

How do we
recruit new members for our chapter?
The national office will process one mailing per
year for each chapter for the purpose of increasing their
membership. This mailing is also used to encourage non-chapter
members to join chapters. The national office will assume up to $125
a year for postage, with the chapter picking up any additional cost.

Is
our chapter covered by insurance?
FMCA's insurance policy provides coverage for
bodily injury, personal injury, and property damage alleged to have
arisen out of an occurrence, or an accident, by an insured. The
insureds are FMCA, Family Motor Coaching Inc., areas, associations,
chapters, members, employees, and volunteers while acting on behalf
of FMCA.

What do we do after we have a chapter officer election?
Anytime you have an election or any change of
officers, such as a resignation, the chapter secretary should notify
the Chapter Services Department in writing as soon as possible.
This will ensure that the correct person receives future
mailings.

How do we advertise chapter rallies?
Each issue of Family Motor Coaching includes an
"Association Calendar." It encompasses four months of dates and
information about chapter rallies. A form that can be used to submit
this information to the Chapter Services Department accompanies each
"Association Calendar." Please note that all rallies listed in the
"Association Calendar" are open rallies, and all FMCA members should
feel free to attend. Some, however, do require reservations and are
noted as such. Since
FMC magazine is now
available on the newsstand, this allows more people to see your
“Association Calendar” listing.

Why didn't the "Chapter Directory" in Family Motor Coaching
magazine have our new officers listed?
The complete "Chapter Directory" is printed in the
January and August issue of Family Motor Coaching. Any officer
changes would have to be received by the national office by November
1 for the January issue and by June 1 for the August issue. Chapter
changes are printed in the March, June, and November issues and also
would need to be received by the national office two months prior to
the publication date.

their conformance with FMCA's national bylaws. A response should be
forthcoming within 60 days.

When and how do we vote on our national officers, including the area
vice presidents?
The four officers at large -- the president, senior
vice president, secretary, and treasurer -- are elected by the
Governing Board at the annual Governing Board meeting. This meeting
is held in conjunction with FMCA's summertime
international convention.
Area vice presidents are elected by the national
directors within their respective area by mail ballot. The ballot is
usually mailed around the end of April or the beginning of May with
a return date 30 days later and a tabulation period of 10 days after
that. The ballots are returned to an accounting firm where they are
tabulated. The secretary is then notified of the voting results and
sends a notice of these results to the Governing Board. It takes a
plurality of all votes cast to elect the national officers.
Top
Our national director cannot attend the Governing Board meeting. Can
the alternate national director take his place, or how can our
chapter have representation?
If your national director cannot attend the
meeting, the alternate national director can automatically represent
the chapter. This requires no notification to the national office.
If neither the national director nor the alternate national director
can attend, a temporary delegate may be elected for the next
Governing Board meeting only, and written notification to the
national office of such an election is required.
Top
As a national director, am I paid to attend the Governing Board
meeting?
A chapter's voting delegate is not paid directly.
Every chapter will be reimbursed an amount equal to the early bird
convention registration fee for its voting representative who has
registered for both morning and afternoon sessions. The
reimbursement made to the chapter will be based upon official
attendance records of the national office.

How do we find out about area rallies?
An area rally
schedule is listed at
www.fmca.com/areas/rallies. Information about FMCA's area rallies also can be found
in each issue of FMC magazine within the "Association Calendar"
pages.
The national office is now processing the
registrations for some area rallies, and for those rallies, you can
register online.

Top
Who would I contact if I have a concern or suggestion after
attending an area rally?
A message should be left in the respective area
vice president's voice mailbox. You can leave a message by calling
(800) 544-7062 and using his or her voice mailbox number, which is
listed in the front of each issue of Family Motor Coaching magazine.
You can also send a letter addressed to the respective Area Vice
President to the National Office, and we will forward it to the
