Rexasaurus'

By Donna Johnson, F234635

A cute dinosaur is the logo for the Rexasaurus' chapter, one of three FMCA chapters that focus on ownership of Rexhall motorhomes. Rexhall International is for owners in all geographical areas; Rex-A-Haulics is for owners in the Rocky Mountain Area; and our chapter is made up mostly of FMCA members who live in Southern California.

The Rexasaurus' chapter was chartered in 1997, and we currently have 33 member families on our roster. Our chapter meets the first weekend of every month, except in July, August, and September. During that time, most members are on longer vacations. We choose to get together mostly on weekends, but do also get together during the week.

Each October we meet at a homecoming rally at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds, near the Rexhall manufacturing plant in Lancaster, California. This is a time for us to visit vendors and attend seminars that let us learn about how to care for our motorhomes. Plus, it's just fun to socialize with Rexhall owners from around the country. We also share technical information in our chapter newsletter.

Other than that rally, each gathering we attend is different, for our wagon master and co-wagon master plan the activities. We've been to California attractions such as the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley; the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar; the USS Midway Museum in San Diego; Little Petroglyph Canyon in Ridgecrest; and the Guide Dogs of America headquarters in Sylmar. We also have had extra outings and gone on wine tours. The majority of our rallies are within 100 to 150 miles of the Orange County area, but we don't just stick to California. We've had gatherings in Nevada and even at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As you can see, we do get around! Upcoming rally locations this year include Oceano, Anza, and Bakersfield, California.

Our rallies also include great food. We go out to dinner, have catered meals, and enjoy potlucks (we have some great cooks in our club).

Wherever we go, we have fun. Some of us love to go to local casinos, and others like to play cards (Hand and Foot is popular with us). We laugh a lot and give big hugs when we see each other. Our chapter is active and full of friendly people who like to socialize and have a good time.

You don't have to live in the area to join us, but you do need to own at least one-third of a coach manufactured by Rexhall. Dues are $20 per year, which includes the monthly newsletter. You can join by filling out the membership application on our Web site, http://rexasaurus.bravehost.com; or, contact FMCA’s Chapter Services Department at (800) 543-3622; e-mail chapters@fmca.com.

If you would like your chapter to be featured in Chapter Spotlight, contact FMC associate editor Peggy Jordan, (800) 543-3622, ext. 212; pjordan@fmca.com.
