A LIFESTYLE FOR A LIFETIME, SEMINAR 6
Treena and Graham Kerr have come a long way since their "Galloping
Gourmet" days on international television. Treena had a stroke and
heart attack in 1987, followed by diabetes II and hypertension, and
the stress of producing 1,800 TV shows. She was twice nominated for
an Emmy Award as daytime TV producer of the year. Together they
searched for a lifestyle they could live for a lifetime. That meant
no fad diets; simply one that reduced risk and increased the flavors
they loved. They did it! In this seminar they will tell you how to
tailor your own culinary lifestyle that improves health and actually
tastes better than ever before. P.S. – Treena is now rated as 40
percent fitter than women of her own age who have not suffered a
stroke, diabetes, hypertension, and being married to Graham Kerr.
This seminar will be repeated on Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.,
in Seminar 6.
9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

wiring, and covers for towed vehicles are a few of the topics that
will be discussed. Jim Brightly, F358406, technical editor of
Family Motor Coaching magazine, will moderate this seminar.
Panelists will include convention towing equipment exhibitors. Ample
time will be allowed for questions from the audience. Supplemental
braking will NOT be discussed at this seminar. There will be a
seminar dedicated solely to "Supplemental Towed Car Braking" on
Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., in Seminar 1.

instances. In recent years, FMCA has been quite involved with issues

learn how state and provincial laws affect you and what your
association is doing on your behalf. In addition Max Durbin, F76454,

expanded testing of the RV Friendly program and the progress made to
implement the program in other states. As this program is in the
"market testing" stage, attendees are encouraged to comment on the
program's requirements, offer suggestions on how to increase usage,
etc. FMCA members may desire to pursue the creation of a similar
program in their home state. The presenter will have information on
the correct contacts in most states, handouts on requirements, and

Motorhome electrical systems can overload a generator with large but
"invisible" battery charging loads. This seminar provides
information to help owners understand and manage these loads to get
the most from their generator and electrical system. Some new
motorhomes are now equipped with automatic load-demand gen set
starting systems that can start and stop the gen set when
unattended. This seminar addresses how the systems function and how
to control or disable them. This seminar is presented by Norm
Anderson, Onan Corp., C87, and Mike Swenson, Xantrex Technology,
Inc., C6625.

utilize the mapping capability of your program and PC. To attend you
should have a laptop PC and a mapping program that runs on it,
preferably DeLorme Street Atlas, MicroSoft Streets and Trips, or
Trailer Life Campground Navigator (or all three). If you have a

this seminar.
1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
GENERATOR MAINTENANCE ROUNDTABLE, SEMINAR 2
Generators are often forgotten until you need their power. How do
they work? What should you do to make sure your generator is
available when needed? How many watts do you need? What can you do
if your generator does not start? The goal of this seminar is to
answer these and other questions, providing FMCA members with the
information necessary to guarantee peace of mind when using a
generator. Jim Brightly, F358406, technical editor of Family Motor
Coaching magazine, moderates this seminar. FMCA generator exhibitors
and others will discuss generators and answer your questions.
1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
YOUR EMOTIONS, YOUR POETRY, SEMINAR 3
Sometimes it is hard to find the words that express exactly how we
feel and so often we just sigh and say nothing. Poet and author
Treena Kerr will encourage you (men and women) to put your own
deeply felt and often unexpressed emotions on paper. It doesn't have
to rhyme, but it can be a most revealing and healing experience that
is ideal for RVers. The follow-up session on Thursday at 1:15 p.m.
in Seminar 3 will focus on "first attempt poets" who have taken her
challenge during the first seminar. Please sign up for this seminar
in the Information Center located in the Lower Atrium of the North
Dakota State Fair Center beginning Monday, August 15, at 7:00 a.m.
Space is limited.
1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
BASICS OF REFRIGERATION, SEMINAR 4
The importance of the RV refrigerator cannot be overstated.
Unfortunately, it is often the most misunderstood appliance in a
motorhome. Bill Hendrix, F761S, of Dometic Corporation, C306, will
present a seminar on the operation and maintenance of the RV
refrigerator. After the presentation, questions will be encouraged.
1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
BEAUTIFYING & PROTECTING YOUR COACH, SEMINAR 6
Ken Neumann of Protect All, C4321, will discuss techniques that will
help you protect your motorhome investment. Time, the sun, and other
elements take a toll on the appearance and life of your coach.
Cleaning, polishing, and protecting your RV is easy when you know
how. Ken has developed an extensive background restoring and caring
for the many surfaces of an RV, including fiberglass, paint,
plastic, aluminum, rubber, vinyl, rubber roofs, and more. With the
ideas presented here, you will be able to keep your coach looking
good for years to come. Ample time will be allotted for questions
from the audience.
1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

the 2005 INTO Rally at Lebanon, Tennessee, will be provided. Details
of the plans for the 2006 Area Rally scheduled for June 30 and July
1, 2 and 3, to be held at Gillette, Wyoming, will be outlined. Board
of Officers' recommendation for the location of the 2007 annual Area
Rally will be given, followed by a vote of the Board of Delegates.
Please Note: the International Area Annual Meeting is required by
the organizations bylaws and is scheduled to be held each year
during the FMCA summer convention so that a maximum number of voting
delegates (national directors) can be present to attend to the
organization's business. Additionally, the meeting is open to all
FMCA members to provide them with an insight of the involvement of
the area within the framework of FMCA. The meeting is scheduled

North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and the provinces of
Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Canada. If you are here from these areas,
please plan to attend the Midwest Area gathering. Meet your area
vice president, Nelson K. Stubbs, F107765; his wife, Janet; and the
other Midwest Area Cooperative (MAC) officers. Hear what's new in
the Midwest. If you're interested in joining a chapter or meeting
other RVing people such as yourself, plan to attend and enjoy the
fun. PLEASE NOTE: The Midwest Area Annual Meeting, which is required
by the organization by-laws to meet each year, will be held during
this gathering. Reports by the secretary, treasurer, rallymaster and
chairman of the site committee will be given. Election of officers
and nominating committee for the coming year will be held. Final
arrangements and announcements regarding the 2006 MAC rally will be
made and the delegates also will select the site/dates for the MAC
rally to be held in 2007. Any other business may be discussed by, or
presented to the voting delegates. We are proud to be the host area
for this convention. We are fortunate to have such great volunteers
that support FMCA.
Great Lakes Area
Seminar 2, with Ginny McGrath
From the many ports on the Great Lakes and the Ohio River, through
the grassy plains and rich farmlands of Ohio and Indiana, we travel
to the crystal-clear lakes and industrial cities of Michigan, and
then across the border to the beautiful countryside of Ontario,
Canada, with its large and extremely well-kept cities. The Great
Lakes Area is as fine a place to live and visit as there is in North
America. If you call this area home, or if you would like to, please
stop by and meet Ginny McGrath, F87335, your Great Lakes Area vice
president, along with fellow Great Lakers, and learn more about our
area and its fun chapters.
South Central Area
Seminar 3, with Tony Innocenti
Throughout Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and
Texas, you'll find some of the nicest FMCA members in the country.
Representatives of the South Central Area’s 44 chapters and the
Six-State Rally Association are interested in telling you about the
many activities that take place in this part of the country. Many of
them will be at the South Central Area gathering along with Tony
Innocenti, F56315, South Central Area national vice president, and
his wife, Geri. They'll introduce you to some "high country" fun
through their area chapters and the upcoming Six-State Rally. Take a
few minutes to meet some new friends and learn about the South
Central Area chapters that interest you. See you there!
Eastern Area
Seminar 4, with Judy Czarsty
Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the mighty
Mississippi River in Memphis, Tennessee, to the west, you'll find
plenty to see and do in this part of the country to keep you busy
including FMCA Eastern Area chapter activities. If you're from
Delaware, the District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, North
Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West
Virginia, or if you are a member of one of the 48 chapters in the
Eastern Area or wish to become a member, you'll want to attend this
gathering and meet your Eastern Area vice president, Judy Czarsty,
F79148, and her husband, Steve. The agenda includes recognition and
introduction of first-timers, non-chapter members, special guests,
and area chapters represented; Eastern Area rally plans for 2005 and
beyond; and a question-and-answer period.
Northwest Area
Seminar 5, with Jim Phillips
If you hail from the "Beautiful Northwest Area" and parts
thereabouts – Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, the
provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, as well as the Yukon
Territory and the Northwest Territories, Canada – drop by for a
visit with your Northwest Area vice president, Jim Phillips,
F158824, and his wife, Ann. You also can visit with many of the
folks from the Northwest Area and meet your newly elected Northwest
Area vice president, Donzella Leahy, F234822, and her spouse, Bill.
Learn about the area's 34 active chapters, and find out why you
might wish to join one or more of the chapters in order to get
greater enjoyment out of your FMCA membership. There will be members
from many of our chapters for you to get acquainted. You don't have
to live in the Northwest, you only have to be interested in it. We
hope to see you there.
Rocky Mountain Area
Seminar 6, with Duane Pindell
The Rocky Mountain Area stretches from the coal mines of Gillette,
Wyoming, to the Sonoran desert of Arizona; from the casinos of
Nevada to the volcanoes of New Mexico; and also includes the scenic
states of Colorado and Utah. If you live in one of these states, or
love to visit them, you will want to join us at the Rocky Mountain
Area gathering to hear first-hand what is happening in our area.
Meet area vice president Duane Pindell, F105443; his wife, Rosalie;
and the RMMA officers to hear what they have planned for the 2005
Rocky Mountain Ramble to be held in Winnemucca, Nevada, from
September 14 through 17, 2005.
Western Area
Seminar 7, with Tony Vincent
The Western Area consists of 62 chapters located primarily in
California, with one chapter based in the Reno, Nevada, area.
Western Area national vice president Tony Vincent, F161584, and his
wife, Betty, will be on hand to greet you. Don't forget to mark your
calendars, January 11 through 15, 2006, for the 2006 area rally
where attendees will enjoy "Puttin' On The Glitz, California Style."
Please join us to hear about the variety of chapter activities
available. We appreciate the support from our Western Area members,
the governing board, and the officers. We welcome non-chapter
members to the gathering and hope that you can take the time to
share in the fun and fellowship of FMCA.
Southeast Area
Seminar 12, with George Schipper
Follow the Lewis & Clark Trail to the Minot, North Dakota Expedition
Experience! The Southeast Area/FMCA contingent "has come a long way,
baby;" and George Schipper, Southeast Area national vice president,

Area Gathering. Come and hear about the exciting plans the SEA Board
and volunteers are working on for our February 1-5, 2006 rally,
"Celebrate Mardi Gras at S.E.A.," in Brooksville, Florida. We'll
have someone "special" to greet you and show you the way to fun,
fellowship, and new friends. See you there! Don't forget your
smiles!!
Northeast Area
Seminar 13, with Bill Conway
The Northeast Area is comprised of the six New England states; New
Jersey and New York; and north of the border there are the four
Maritime Provinces and the province of Quebec. Anyone living in this
area or on the fringe of our boundaries is welcome to meet Bill
Conway, F99081, Northeast Area vice president, and his wife, Pat,
and any current chapter members in attendance. There are 41 active
chapters with various scopes and specialties to meet most people’s
aspirations. There are brand types, activity-related types, long and
short driving distance types, and large and small sizes as well.
Some chapters have the minimum of members while some exceed 250.
Bill and Pat can inform you of the extra activities available in the
general area. One of the most rewarding things in joining a chapter
is meeting new friends with similar interests and bonding with a
small group where you make long trips together. Over the years we
have taken trips lasting two or three weeks with five to seven
motorhomes. Traveling in a caravan is the way to go. Taking photos
and videotapes of the trip and looking back later to show new
friends all the enjoyment and stories that happen on every trip,
that’s the good life. This is how lasting friendships are made.

GUNS & RVS, SEMINAR 13
The instructor will address the federal and some state laws and
interpretations that confuse the issue for multi-state RVers,
particularly as it relates to carrying a concealed handgun in your
vehicle and on your person. Most importantly, this seminar will
provide a thorough examination of the legal, moral, and practical
realities of carrying a firearm for personal safety and using it for
defensive deadly physical force. Handguns, shotguns, rifles, proper
cartridge selection, and new non-lethal defensive tools will be
addressed. This class is particularly important for those who don't
own firearms but are considering buying one and those who have never
used firearms for personal defense but think it will be easy. It is
also a course for those who think that firearms have no place in
modern "civilized" society.
