Race to help charities

When it comes to helping charities in or near towns that host FMCA conventions, FMCA members tend to set the pace.

Members “can” make a difference in the lives of many families in the Charlotte/Concord, N.C., areas by supporting the official charities for FMCA’s 76th international convention:

  • The Cooperative Christian Ministry’s Food Pantry program

  • Speedway Children’s Charities.

To assist the food pantry, convention attendees are asked to bring a canned good or other food item to the Information Center at the Nextel Garage beginning on Sunday, Aug. 13.

Requested items
Here are the current food pantry needs:

  • Cans of fruit

  • Cans of beans (pork and beans, pinto, kidney)

  • Mustard, mayonnaise

  • Cans of vegetables (potatoes, peas, carrots, mixed vegetables)

  • Cans of meat products

  • Cans of soup

  • Personal products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes)

  • Paper products (toilet tissue, paper towels, diapers)

  • Detergent.

The Cooperative Christian Ministry will pick up these items during the convention. The last pickup will be Thursday afternoon.

The Cooperative Christian Ministry’s goals are to meet the needs of people in crisis and to empower them to make positive, lasting life changes.

Many churches, organizations and individuals donate their time and money to assist the ministry.

Speedway Children’s Charities
Speedway Children’s Charities provides funds to nonprofit charities to make a direct and significant impact on the lives of children in need.

In 2005, Speedway Children’s Charities raised more than $2.8 million and awarded grants to more than 400 nonprofit organizations, assisting more than 300,000 children.

FMCA members can learn more about these charities, and more ways to support them, during the convention. Check the convention program for details.
