Motorhomes gather at Fairplex in 1965 for
the California chapter's formation meeting. |
FMCA’s California chapter held its formation meeting in February
1965 at Fairplex
in Pomona, Calif.
At FMCA's 2008 convention at Fairplex, attendees can view photos
of motorhomes present at that gathering.
Jim and Ginny Holifield,
L387, were among the founding members of the California chapter, two
years after the startup of FMCA. Look for Jim’s photos in the
outdoor display area.
Jim, the California chapter’s third
president and national director, also will answer questions about
the history of the chapter.
The photos represent a time when the
California chapter, chartered in June 1965, was the only FMCA
chapter in California. Today, FMCA has 60 chapters in the state.
“Fun and Friendship” is the motto of the chapter, which has
approximately 286 members.
Flxible conversions, the same coach
depicted on FMCA’s logo, are among the motorhomes shown in Jim’s
photos.
