Special Events

BALLOON GLOW

As a special ending to FMCA's 83rd International Convention, beautiful tethered hot air balloons will illuminate the launch area of Balloon Fiesta Park on Thursday evening, as well as performance by Flying J Wranglers.

BALLOON RIDES

Rainbow Ryders, the official ride concession for FMCA's "Albuquerque Fiesta" Convention, will inflate the hot-air balloons, giving you the opportunity to become involved "hands on" as a crew member and help with the balloon inflation; or you may sit back, observe, and take pictures as the gentle giant comes alive. At lift-off you embark upon a unique journey.

Enjoy breathtaking views of the majestic Sandia Mountains and Rio Grande Valley while floating in the sky and sending greetings to earthbound Albuquerque folks below. After landing, enjoy a champagne toast to end your safe and memorable adventure. You will be presented with a flight certificate and balloon flight pin to commemorate your aeronautical experience. Make sure you bring your camera.

The special rate for FMCA's "Albuquerque Fiesta" convention attendees is $150 per person. Call to reserve your flight or you can register online at www.rainbowryders.com. The online booking code is FMCA.

CHAPTER FAIR

Come find out one of the best-kept secrets of FMCA – chapter membership. This is an opportunity to see individual chapters showcasing their unique qualities – music, golfing, gaming, dining, sharing coach tips, or just kibitzing about motorhoming experiences. The variety of chapters will astound you, but watch out! Chapter members are exceptionally enthusiastic about this way of life . . . it can be contagious.

CHARLIE THE CENTENNIAL BEAR

As America’s RV industry revs up for a year’s worth of celebrations in recognition of its 2010 Centennial, the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) is sending the Official Ambassador of the 2010 RV Centennial – a 34-inch American black bear stuffed animal – on a road trip to honor the people who love RVing and the workers who are the heart and soul of the RV industry.

RV companies and consumer shows participating in “Centennial Charlie’s Cross-Country Caravan” will host the 2010 RV Centennial mascot for a few days before sending him on to his next stop on the 100-day tour. Centennial Charlie, who is inspired by the bear in Go RVing’s 2010 Ambassadors of Affordability ad campaign, will bring the industry’s celebrations to RV enthusiasts and RV employees in a fun, unconventional way.

During Charlie’s visits, staff of RV manufacturing companies and consumer shows will take photos of the bear with RV workers and show-goers and, at the conclusion of Charlie’s journey, RVIA will produce a video chronicle of the mascot’s tour including photographs taken on his travels. The video will be shared with the RV industry at its June 7 celebration at the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum, and later will be posted on YouTube.

Join in the fun and have your picture taken with Charlie The Centennial Bear at surprise locations during FMCA’s “Albuquerque Fiesta” convention. Watch for him at the coach exhibits, indoor supplier/component exhibits, entertainment venues, and seminars.
