Recall Corner
September 2003
Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. has announced
two separate motorhome recalls.
Fleetwood recall 30505 (NHTSA recall 03V169000)
affects 740 model-year 2003 Tioga and Jamboree motorhomes with floor plans R, V,
and W. On certain motorhomes, the intermediate driveshaft will vibrate
excessively, leading to carrier bearing failure. Carrier bearing failure (as
evidenced by vibration and a droning noise) can lead to driveshaft failure,
which may result in the loss of vehicle control and/or a vehicle accident and
personal injury.
Authorized dealers will inspect, replace, and
retorque the carrier bearing mounting nuts from 37 to 54 foot-pounds as
necessary. The repair is estimated to take no more than 30 minutes and will be
made at no cost to the owner. Fleetwood began owner notification in May 2003.
Fleetwood recall 30516 (NHTSA recall 03V180000)
affects 516 model-year 2003 Discovery, Excursion, and Providence motorhomes with
the S floor plan. On certain motorhomes it has been found that the reinforced
liquid propane (LP) gas rubber hose can be pinched during slideout operation.
This could lead to an LP-gas leak with the potential of an explosion and/or
fire.
Authorized dealers will inspect and replace or
reroute the LP-gas rubber hose as necessary. The repair will take approximately
1 hour 30 minutes and will be made at no cost to the owner. Fleetwood began
owner notification in June 2003.

recalls, contact Fleetwood Owner Relations at (800) 322-8216.
