Recall Corner — November 2005

Monaco Coach Corporation has announced NHTSA recall 05V366000, which affects some 2006 Beaver Monterey; Holiday Rambler Endeavor and Scepter; and Monaco Camelot, Diplomat, and Windsor motorhomes that were manufactured between December 17, 2004, and June 24, 2005. The potential number of coaches involved is 415.

On certain motorhomes, the headlight switch in the front electrical box/firewall can overload. Changes in the component supplier relay requirements with an updated controller have been found to possibly cause the headlights to stop functioning without warning. This could potentially cause a crash while driving at night.

Dealers will install a new wiring harness. The repair is expected to take approximately 30 minutes. However, because of service scheduling times, the service center may need the vehicle for a longer time period.

For more information about these recalls, contact Monaco at (800) 685-6545. Owner notification was expected to begin in September 2005.

Winnebago Industries Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 05V407000, which affects some 2004 through 2006 Itasca Meridian; 2003 through 2005 Itasca Suncruiser; 2005 Itasca Sunrise; 2003 through 2005 Winnebago Adventurer; 2004 through 2006 Winnebago Journey; and 2005 Winnebago Voyage motorhomes built between May 2, 2002, and August 12, 2005. The potential number of coaches involved is 1,367.

On certain motorhomes, the roof vent for the optional four-door refrigerator was incorrectly located, which could result in excessive heat buildup. The heat buildup could potentially ignite surrounding materials, resulting in personal injury and/or vehicle and property damage. Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to turn off and discontinue use of the refrigerator until the repair is made.

A dealer or authorized service center will inspect and, if necessary, relocate the refrigerator roof vent. The repair is expected to take approximately two hours to complete. However, because of service scheduling times, the service center may need the vehicle for a longer time period.

For more information about this recall, contact Winnebago Industries at (641) 585-6939. Owner notification was expected to begin in September 2005.
