Recall Corner
January 2006
Country Coach Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 05V39800,
which affects some 1998 and 1999 Intrigue motorhomes built between February 1998
and June 1999. The potential number of coaches involved is 33.
Certain motorhomes fail to conform to the requirements of
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120, “Tire Selection and Rims for
Motor Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars.” The labels state inadequate cold tire
inflation pressure for the front and rear tires, giving the tires a lower
carrying capacity than the front and rear axle weight ratings. In some cases
this could lead to premature tire wear and potentially a tire failure, which
could result in the loss of steering control and cause a crash.
Dealers or authorized service centers will replace both the
front and rear tires on the affected motorhomes and affix new federal tire
labels reflecting the correct cold tire inflation pressures. The repair is
expected to take approximately five hours and 15 minutes to complete. However,
because of service scheduling times, the service center may need the vehicle for
a longer time period.
