Recall Corner
March 2007
Dometic
Corp.has announced NHTSA recall 06E076000, which affects
some two-door refrigerators built between April 1997 and May 2003
with model designations NDR1062, RM2652, RM2662, RM2663, RM2852,
RM2862, RM3662, RM3663, RM3862, and RM3863 (serial numbers beginning
with the following three digits: 713 through 752; 801 through 852;
901 through 952; 001 through 052; 101 through 152; 201 through 252;
and 301 through 319). You will need both the model number and serial
number in order to determine if you have an affected refrigerator.
The potential number of refrigerators involved is 926,877.
On certain Dometic two-door
refrigerators installed as original equipment or sold as aftermarket
products, a fatigue crack may develop in the boiler tube in the area
of the weld between the boiler tube and the heater pocket. This may
release a sufficient amount of pressurized coolant solution into an
area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present. The release of
coolant under certain conditions could ignite and result in a fire.
The majority of the recalled refrigerators do not pose a danger to
the owner.
Dometic will install a secondary
burner housing on the refrigerators. The repair shouldn't take
approximately 30 minutes. However, because of service scheduling
times, the service center may need the vehicle for a longer time
period. It's important to call your preferred service center to set
up an appointment, and to ensure the dealer has the necessary rework
kit.
To reach as many customers as
possible, Dometic and the original manufacturer of your coach will
each send notifications in regards to this recall. Even though you
may receive multiple notifications, all pertain to the same, single
recall. In addition, owners who wish to check whether their
refrigerator is involved in this recall or to obtain important
information on what to do if their refrigerator falls within the
recall population can visit www.dometicusa.com and click on a recall
information link, where they will be prompted to enter the model
number and serial number of their refrigerator.

recall, contact Dometic at (888) 446-5157. The recall is expected to
begin April 2007.
Monaco Coach Corporation
has announced NHTSA recall 07V016000, which affects some 2007 Monaco
Monarch, Cayman, Holiday Rambler Admiral, and Neptune; and Safari
Simba, Simba Diesel, and Trek gas motorhomes that were manufactured
between September 8, 2006, and October 23, 2006. The potential
number of coaches involved is 123.
On certain motorhomes, an incorrect
screw was used to install the black-and-white CRT backup monitor in
the dash. The incorrect screws are <f>1/4<f>-inch longer than
specified and may contact a PC board inside the monitor, which could
potentially hit a high-voltage circuit on the PC board that contains
approximately 10,000 to 13,000 volts. If the screw makes contact
with the high-voltage tracer on the PC board, a person could get an
electrical shock by touching the screw head while the power is on.
Dealers will inspect the backup
monitor to verify that the operation of the monitor is free of
electrical charge. If the monitor is operating properly, the repair
will consist of replacing the incorrect screw with the specified
screw and testing for proper operation. If the monitor is not
operating properly on initial inspection, the monitor will be
replaced using the correct screw. The repair is expected to take
approximately 30 minutes. However, because of service scheduling
times, the service center may need the vehicle for a longer time
period.

recalls, contact Monaco Coach Corporation at (877) 466-6226. Owner
notification began in February 2007.
