Recall Corner
May 2007
Country Coach Inc. has announced NHTSA recall 07V037000,
which affects some 2007 Intrigue motorhomes manufactured between
July 2006 and November 2006. The potential number of coaches
involved is 51.
Certain coaches equipped with Tuthill
1660 independent front suspensions have front air brake hoses that
could potentially be chafed and/or rubbed by the steer axle tires or
chassis components under certain conditions. This could damage the
braided surface and inner materials of the brake hoses. The hose
also could become snagged on an unused bracket. In addition, the red
tubing brake hose from the ABS valve to the air supply bulkhead
fitting has the potential to rub and/or chafe against the outer
diameter of the tire. These conditions could result in the loss of
braking on a steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will inspect, reroute, and
secure the brake hoses. The repair is expected to take approximately
one hour. However, because of service scheduling times, the service
center may need the vehicle for a longer time period.

Damon
Corporation has announced NHTSA recall 07V022000, which
affects some 2002 through 2005 Ultrasport; 2006 and 2007 Astoria,
Challenger, and Tuscany; 2004 and 2005 Escaper and LX 400; and 2003
through 2005 Intruder motorhomes. The potential number of coaches
involved is 2,618.
Certain motorhomes fail to comply
with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.
108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.” All of
the motorhomes subject to this recall were built without the red
rear reflex reflectors, and some were built without the amber
intermediate side reflex reflectors. During night driving conditions
or while the motorhome is parked, the rear and side marker lights
will not provide any reflex reflection to mark the vehicle’s
location in the dark, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will provide owners with a
kit containing the missing reflectors and instructions for applying
them to their vehicle. Owners who do not feel comfortable doing this
may take their vehicle to a dealer to have the reflectors applied.

recall, contact Damon at (800) 860-3812. Owner notification was
expected to begin in March 2007.

Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.
has announced NHTSA recall 07V101000, which affects some 2007
American Eagle and American Tradition motorhomes manufactured
between May 23, 2006, and December 15, 2006. The potential number of
coaches involved is 160.
On certain coaches, the service
compartment that contains the inverter and the house batteries is
insufficiently sealed from spark-producing devices. In the event
out-gassing occurs from the batteries and the gases are exposed to a
spark of measurable size and duration, ignition of the gases may
occur. This has the potential to ignite combustible objects within
the compartment.
Dealers will inspect and install a
compartment spacer and bulb seal to the service compartment that
contains the house batteries. The repair is expected to take
approximately 30 minutes. However, because of service scheduling
times, the service center may need the vehicle for a longer time
period.

recall, contact Fleetwood at (800) 509-3418. The recall was expected
to begin in March 2007.
