Recall Corner
January 2008
Coachmen RV Company LLC has announced NHTSA recall
07V483000, which affects some 2006 Aurora motorhomes built between
November 9, 2005, and May 2, 2006. The potential number of coaches
involved is 193.
On certain motorhomes, an incorrect
spare tire carrier assembly that does not properly support the spare
tire and wheel was mounted under the rear of the unit. As a result,
the spare tire could detach from the carrier assembly and fall to
the road surface. Should this occur while the vehicle is in motion,
a crash may result. Owners of vehicles included in this recall are
advised to remove the spare tire from the carrier assembly before
continuing to drive the vehicle.
Dealers will install the correct
spare tire system and also a secondary mechanical backup latch. The
repair is expected to take approximately three hours. However,
because of service scheduling times, the service center may need the
vehicle for a longer time period.
For more information about this
recall, contact Coachmen RV at (800) 453-6064. Owner notification
began in October 2007.
Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.
has announced NHTSA recalls 07V503000 and 07V50400, which affect
certain 2007 and 2008 Bounder and Pace Arrow 38P model motorhomes
manufactured between January 4, 2007, and September 28 , 2007. The
potential number of units involved is 163.
On certain motorhomes, the slideout
room may activate while traveling, causing the overall vehicle width
to increase. Water can short out the electronic control relay for
the slideout room control mechanism. The increased vehicle width
could lead to collisions while traveling or slideout room impact to
adjacent objects while the motorhome is parked.
Fleetwood has not yet provided a
remedy or owner notification schedule for this campaign. Owners may
contact Fleetwood at (800) 322-8216.
