Give your RVing IQ a boost by going back to school during FMCA’s “Bowling Green Bash.” By Doug Uhlenbrock, Associate Editor
July 2009 In late July, the campus of Bowling Green State University will spring to life as thousands of people invade the streets and halls of this school in Bowling Green, Ohio. But these won’t be your typical 18-to-22-year-old students returning to classes after an abbreviated summer break. The folks filling the sidewalks and classrooms will be attending Family Motor Coach Association’s 82nd International Convention, where they will have the opportunity to learn more about motorhoming by attending one or more seminars presented during the “Bowling Green Bash.”  The convention’s lineup of more than 160 seminar opportunities covering nearly all aspects of the RVing lifestyle will include more than 130 topics and more than 30 new presentations. Technical sessions will focus on operating and maintaining a motorhome’s many systems and components, with industry experts on hand to lend valuable advice and answer specific questions. During seminars included under the Educational heading, presenters will provide information and instruction about a wide variety of subjects, helping to make the traveling life more enjoyable. Folks can learn how to create jewelry to wear or give to others or keepsakes that will remind them of their convention experience during the many Crafts classes available. And, of course, attendees can get their blood pumping, improve their physical well-being, and have a good time while participating in Fun, Games & Exercise activities.
Some seminars have limited class sizes, and registration is necessary prior to those sessions. Nearly all are free, but fees are charged to participate in the crafts classes, for the two-session “RV Driving Safety Program,” for those who wish to have their motorhome weighed as part of the Recreation Vehicle Safety & Education Foundation’s coach-weighing service, and other classes.
