News from the FMCA national office in
Cincinnati, Ohio …
Interstate tolls
FMCA encourages members to contact their state senators
stating opposition to House Resolution 3, the
Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (TEA LU).
TEA LU would allow states to collect tolls on interstate
highways, bridges and tunnels for the purpose of
reconstructing or rehabilitating the facility. The bill
passed in the House in April 2005 and was sent to the
Senate.
In
the Executive Notes column in the May issue of FMC
magazine (see link below) , Max Durbin, chairman of FMCA's
Governmental And Legislative Affairs Committee, discusses
the legislation and offers ideas to include in a letter to
legislators.
More than a number
FMCA always has assigned numbers to identify its members.
Ever wonder why? For starters, the number is used to avoid
confusion over members with the same last names. Members
also use their numbers to access FMCA's Mail Forwarding Service and other benefits.
Beverly Spurgeon, Director of Membership Services,
explains the history and purposes of the numbering system
in the Executive Director's Commentary in the April issue
of FMC magazine (see link below).
FMCA
assigned member number 361893 In May 2005.
