Kitchener, Ontario-based Roadtrek Motorhomes has introduced a Sprinter chassis-based Type B motorhome with a slideout.
Roadtrek’s new 20-foot SS-Ideal motorhome has a 3-foot-deep slideout that extends from the rear door opening and contains a rear queen sofa. Along with the sofa, a table and two jump seats create a rear seating area for four.
The SS-Ideal is built on the high-mileage 8,550-pound GVWR Sprinter 2500 chassis equipped with a 154-horsepower six-cylinder Mercedes-Benz diesel engine.
By using the existing rear door opening, the vehicle’s original structural integrity is not compromised in any way, according to Roadtrek.
”The SS Ideal has the livability of a much larger unit when you’re at the camp site, yet it’s so easy slip into a regular-size parking spot," said Roadtrek president Jeff Hanemaayer. ”This definitely will appeal to a whole range of buyers who typically buy Class C motorhomes."
The SS-Ideal's base suggested retail price is $97,110 in the U.S. and $104,000 in Canada. Models are in production and will be available to see at dealers in early 2010.
