Flying J implements RV dump fee

Flying J is now charging $10 to use its RV dump station services, but holders of Flying J's RV Real Value membership club card receive a $5 discount. All FMCA members receive this card when they join FMCA.

A $5 dump station coupon will be added to customers' Real Value cards based on fuel purchases, said Mark Adamson, director of training and development for Flying J. To receive the discount, the club member must present the card to the cashier at point of purchase.

Members of Flying J's Frequent Fueler club also receive the discount.

"Our expenses from our local water treatment plants are rising," Adamson said. "Thus, we either have to shut down our dumps or pass that charge on to those who use the system."

The fee also is necessary to cover the increasing costs of maintenance and regulatory responsibilities, he added.

Flying J began charging the fee in early April 2010. Previously, use of waste stations at Flying J locations was free.
