How often do your pets accompany you on motorhome trips?
Any time we go in the RV, they are ready and willing to go along. They are great travelers and love to go with us. Our motorhome has slideouts, so they have more room.
What type of motorhome do you own?
A 2007 Winnebago Voyager. We love it.
What do you like best about motorhoming with your pets?
We get our exercise taking them for walks, and they love to cuddle, lots of love. AND they don't shed.
Was it easy for your pets to adapt to motorhome travel?
Our dogs have been with us since they were puppies. Molly was just 8 weeks old and we put up a baby gate
across the kitchen/living room space to confine her activities to the vinyl floor. We duct-taped the corners
of "potty-training" papers to the floor and 95 percent of the time she got it there. They both adapted quite easily.
Do you pets have a favorite spot in the motorhome?
Their favorite spot is up on the flat dash or on my lap, or the couch when traveling. When we stop, they
love being in the front window.
When we let them outside the motorhome, we attach them to cable tieouts because Molly is an "escape artist" and will chew through her leash line. The plastic covered cable has foiled her efforts at escaping.
What are is pets’ favorite toy?
Their favorite toy is a silly, fluffy doggies toy. They toss it around but would rather have
a chew stick, rawhide treat or bacon dog treat.
Have you made any modification to your motorhome to better accommodate your pets?
Since they are adult dogs now, they simply don't bark much unless they see another dog and only if it is close by. They aren't the yappy type. We do keep an extra soft throw on top of the bed so we can cover them at night when it gets cold.
Advice for other motorhomers who travel with pets or are considering traveling with pets:
Our dogs always wear their tags and both are microchipped. We always carry their shot records with us.
We're not quite retired yet -- but SOON!
