Gourmet' Galley Pilaf
Created by gtswift, Friday, 04 February 2011
Description
For a simple side dish to complement chicken or fish, I like this simple, one-pot rice pilaf recipe that’s especially suited to a cramped galley.
Ingredients
At a glance
Makes
3-4 servings
- 1 bag Boil-in-Bag rice
- 1/4 cup fine diced onions
- 1/4 cup fine diced carrots
- 1/4 cup fine diced celery
- 1 large clove fine diced garlic
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/2 teaspoon chicken bouillon
- 1/4 cup water
Methods/steps
On your stovetop, bring a ¾ full, quart-size saucepan of water to a boil, drop in a boil-in-bag container of rice and set your timer for 10 minutes. While the rice is cooking, chop the vegetables into 1/8” bits. When the rice is done, drain well and set aside. Rinse the pan out and return it to the heat to melt the butter. Add the vegetables and sauté, until tender. Meantime, bring the water to a boil, in the microwave, and dissolve the chicken bouillon into it. Finally, mix the rice, vegetables and bouillon together, in your saucepan. Cover and place the pilaf on low heat, until ready to serve.
