Texas RV Friendly signs
Jan. 5, 2006
Texas will allow the placement of RV Friendly signs on gas/food/lodging highway exit signs.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TDOT),
in November 2005, ruled that retailers can affix the logo a bright
yellow circle with the letters RV to their own logos on the signs.
The logo alerts RVers to facilities that
cater to the special needs of RVs at specific highway exits. This
helps RVers to identify and locate restaurants, fuel stations and
tourist attractions that have parking spaces and other amenities
large enough to maneuver an RV.
Texas is the sixth state to adopt the RV
Friendly road sign initiative, joining Oregon, Louisiana, Tennessee,
Washington and Florida. The
Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), on Sept. 6, 2005, granted interim
approval for states to display the RV Friendly logo. Participating
businesses must meet minimum guidelines outlined by FHWA. |
