West Des Moines Wal-Mart parking

RVs are not permitted to park overnight at the new Wal-Mart Supercenter in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Existing city code prohibits overnight parking in the Regional Commercial zoning district in which the Wal-Mart is located, said Christopher Shires of the city’s planning division.

The Wal-Mart store opened July 19.

City Council discussed the parking issue and decided not to amend city code to allow overnight RV parking within any of the city’s commercial zoning districts, Shires said.
