Borger, Texas, on-street parking

Oct. 24, 2006

The city council in Borger, Texas, may let voters decide the fate of an ordinance that would restrict on-street parking of motorhomes.

Council is considering placing the item on the ballot for the May 2007 general city election.

Under a proposed ordinance, large vehicles, including motorhomes, could be forced to park in storage facilities or carports.

Council approved first reading of the ordinance in early February but tabled the legislation after citizens expressed varying opinions at the Feb. 21 council meeting.

Borger, a city of about 14,500, is located about 45 northeast of Amarillo.
