Having fun is the name of the game for this group of motorhome owners.

Visit a Rollin’ Okies chapter rally and you're sure to feel welcome. That's especially true if you enjoy golf, gaming, or just having fun in general. Colleen Harker, chapter president, said the Rollin' Okies select rally sites based on the availability of nearby golf courses and casinos.
Guys (and some gals) plan their golf outings early and head off to the courses in the morning — in carloads. Ladies proceed to area casinos, and they also spend time at "Red Hat" lunches. This ladies' group always includes a gift exchange and "secret pal" activities throughout the rally season. Plus, if bad weather hits during a rally, it gives the ladies a chance to sit and sew or read.
The chapter is based in the Sooner State, as you'd expect from its name, but it also takes in FMCA members from Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri. The group holds six rallies each year, with a mini rally once or twice a year. Most rallies are in Oklahoma and occasionally Missouri. Colleen said rallies start on a Thursday and end on Sunday morning.
"Most of our members come to the rallies early, as we have all formed close relationships and look forward to seeing one another," she said. In addition to the golf and visits to the casinos, the group also plays card games or Mexican dominoes, and shopping is always a popular activity, too. But daytime activities aren't set in stone.
"The day is free to do what you want to do," Colleen explained. "At night something will be going on after the meal." The first rally night is a potluck; the second night, the hosts provide the meal. Dinner is catered on the final night.
Already the Rollin' Okies 2010 rally schedule has included visits to Shawnee, Oklahoma, in March; Elk City, Oklahoma, in April; Guthrie, Oklahoma, in May; and Carthage, Missouri, in June. Their next rally will be at the Choctaw KOA in Durant, Oklahoma, September 21 through 23. The deadline for reservations is September 17.
The last rally of the year is always a Christmas rally, but it's held the week before Thanksgiving. Colleen explained why: "The weather gets crazy. Gale-force, 40-mile-per-hour winds." In Oklahoma, you take advantage of good weather when it comes.
The group has approximately 30 member families, and Colleen emphasized that they welcome — and look forward to meeting — new ones. So, grab your golf clubs or just your love for fun — "Fun is the name of the game," said Colleen — and join in. Chapter dues are $50 the first year and include a newsletter. Rally fees are $30 per rally. For more information, contact FMCA's Chapter Services Department at (513) 474-3622 or (800) 543-3622; [email protected]
