Motorhome Chapter Spotlight | FMCA
This FMCA chapter focuses on the lovely region around San Antonio, Texas.

River City is a nickname for San Antonio, Texas, and that’s how the River City Travelers chapter got its name. We hold nine rallies each year, from September through June (we skip December), normally within a 250-mile radius of San Antonio.
Activities at our rallies include casual armchair seminars packed with useful and informative mechanical information. We enjoy catered meals and potlucks. Talented chapter members make delicious breakfasts that include Belgian waffles and breakfast casseroles.
You don’t have to live in San Antonio to join. In fact, in 2006 when my wife and I attended our first rally as guests of the chapter, we lived in Carlsbad, New Mexico. We were so impressed with the group that we attended a second rally and then became chapter members.
Our chapter is always looking for new members who want to have fun, because that’s what we do. If we are in an area with attractions, we check them out. We’ve seen the Texas Sandfest in Port Aransas; enjoyed horse racing in Ruidoso; and visited market days, flea markets, and wineries. The ladies in the chapter keep the local economy going, for they love to shop.
Rallies officially start on Fridays and end on Sunday mornings. Setup officially takes place on Thursday evening. However, most of us are at the rally site by Wednesday at noon!
Our Thanksgiving/Christmas rally is held in November and we celebrate both holidays. Friday night we have Thanksgiving dinner, and Saturday night we celebrate Christmas. This year, instead of a gift exchange, we contributed to a nonprofit organization in Kerrville: The Pregnancy Resource Center. We donated 39 boxes of diapers, which had a retail value of more than $800.
In January 2014 our chapter celebrated its 25th anniversary at Skyline Ranch RV Park in Bandera, Texas, with great fanfare.
This month, our rally is March 27-30 in Marble Falls, Texas. April 24-27 we will be in Rockport, Texas. Please contact us for more details if you’d like to come visit us at these or other rallies this year.
You must be an FMCA member in good standing and attend two chapter rallies as guests in order to join the chapter. After the second visit, if you’d like to become part of our group, you will be welcomed. Chapter members are required to attend two rallies per year to retain their membership. We currently have approximately 50 member families.
