Checking written information from the automobile manufacturer, such the owners manual, is the best way to make sure you are purchasing an appropriate towed vehicle. 

If you plan to tow four wheels down, contact towing equipment manufacturers and suppliers to determine whether your toad can be fitted with a tow bar and/or base plate.

Check the motorhome's towing capacity. An approximation of this can be calculated by subtracting the GVWR from its GCWR. It's also a good idea to weigh the vehicle you intend to tow to ensure that you are within the GCWR. Note that the GCWR pertains to the towability of the motorhome (its engine, transmission, steering) and not its braking ability.

Because towing information and technology changes rapidly, the owners manual — and vehicle-specific service bulletins — should be the ultimate authority on which vehicles to tow.
