FMCA Campground Alert

We love having FMCA members stay at the FMCA campground in Cincinnati. Please note, however, that because of rallies taking place, the campground will be full immediately following the Indy convention through July 23 and again from July 27 through 30. So, if you were planning to stop by on your way home from Indy, you’ll want to make arrangements to stay elsewhere. Please feel free to stop by and stay another time. Apart from special chapter rallies, spaces are available on a first-come basis. It’s always a good idea to call the national office to find out whether a rally is taking place during the time frame when you wish to visit.

Motorhome owners and FMCA members Jim and Nina FrancisFMCA membership number: F401147 (we joined in 2008)

Our current motorhome:
A 1994 Fleetwood Bounder 34J

Three words that best describe our motorhome:
Lots of fun

We decided to buy a motorhome because:
We wanted our cat, JJ, to go with us. It’s the truth.

The best thing about our motorhome:
We can go and stop as we like. Having JJ with us.

Other motorhomes we’ve owned:
None

Our occupations:
Nina retired from Dow Brands after 31 years. I (Jim) retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years. We owned our own truck and hauled cargo in all lower 48 states and Canada.

Children, grandchildren:
We have six children, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grand kids.

We travel in our motorhome:
Approximately six to seven months of the year. When we’re not motorhoming, we’re at home doing projects around the house.

Our favorite motorhoming destinations:
We have seen and been to many places. A favorite would be hard to say.

Our all-time favorite motorhome trip or motorhoming memory:
Mount Rushmore always comes up first.

Our “dream” motorhome trip:
Start at home, go south to Florida, get on Interstate 10 and head to California.

Our worst motorhoming experience:
Being stuck after an all-night rain. Coach-Net pulled us out. It rained so hard we felt the coach sinking. The folks at the campground said we had 6 inches of rain overnight.

Our motorhoming pet peeve:
Gas prices

Something about motorhoming that we know now but did NOT know when we started:
We knew nothing about motorhoming, and we are still learning.

When driving a motorhome, the most important thing to remember is:
Be alert.

Our advice for other motorhome owners:
Let your conscience be your guide.

Our hobbies are:
We like to sightsee, and walk if we can sit some.

Favorite campground:
One of the nicest was Brookville, Ohio, KOA.

When motorhomers visit our state or hometown, they should be sure to see:
Indianapolis Motor Speedway Indianapolis 500 Hall of Fame Museum

Items that we always keep in our motorhome’s refrigerator while traveling:
Water, coke and orange juice. I am diabetic, so OJ is a must.

Behind our motorhome, we tow: A 2009 Saturn Vue

Pets that travel with us: JJ Dachshund, 15 pounds of strong will

We joined FMCA because: Medex Plus and Coach-Net benefits

FMCA chapter that we belong to: Hoosier Cruisers
