How often does your pet accompany you on motorhome trips?
What type of motorhome do you have:
A 34-foot 2006 Monaco LaPalma
Was it easy for your pet to adapt to motorhome travel?
He had no problem at all. He loves the “bus” and just loves to travel. He’s the only motorhoming bobcat we’ve hear of. He also loves to travel in our 42-foot Meridian Sportfish boat — that’s a whole other story.
What do you like best about motorhoming with your pet?
We get to spend time with him and we meet so many people on the way. It can be tough because people want to see him and take pictures at every stop, but he really loves it and so do we.
Does your pet have a favorite spot in the motorhome?
The dash or on Tracy’s lap
What are your pet’s favorite toys?
A football that when you hit it, it says “Go Pack Go.” They don’t last long; we buy them by the dozen.
Have you modified your motorhome in any way to better accommodate your pet?
We have a big litter box on board.
What is your favorite activity to do with your pet while traveling?
We love to walk him and meet new people.
Advice for other motorhomers who travel with pets or are considering traveling with pets:
We have a special situation which I think people who have big dogs run into. Some parks are not very receptive to a bobcat. I think it is the same with the big dogs; they might be the most well-behaved pet in the world but they aren’t given a chance. So, when making campground reservations you need to be very specific on the size and type of pet. Otherwise you will end up looking for a different place to spend the night. It has happened to us it is not fun.
We are new to motorhoming but it is very similar to boating and we love that as well. We have met so many great friends boating and now we are starting to meet so many nice people motorhoming. It’s like having the best of both worlds.
If you ever see a Monaco Lapalma with 20 people looking in the windshield with cameras, I am sure Rockford is there. So feel free to stop by and say hi.
