Walex Products Company, a specialty chemical products manufacturer based in Wilmington, N.C., has received the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Achievement Award.
The Export Achievement Award recognizes U.S. businesses that achieve competitive success in international markets.
U.S. Congressman Mike McIntyre presented the award in a Sept. 1 ceremony at Walex's manufacturing facility in Leland, N.C.
Walex, an FMCA commercial member since 2001, has offices in Beijing, China and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The company’s products for commercial and consumer waste treatment have expanded into over 30 countries throughout the world, with applications in construction, recreation vehicles, emergency response, military operations, commercial transportation and other industries.
Bill Williams, company president, said Walex products have been used in:
- wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
- the Olympics in Beijing
- Carnaval in Brazil
- RVs in New Zealand
- buses in Mexico
- portable toilets at construction sites in Germany
- high-rise office buildings in Hong Kong
- merchant ships in Spain
- movie sets in Canada
- coffee fields in Colombia
- World Cup soccer matches
“Our products are needed to maintain the health and safety of living and work conditions of people all over the globe, and are needed to treat waste and protect the environment,” Williams said.
