This owners' group shares fun and camaraderie at social events.

The Rocky Mountain Monacos chapter was started almost 10 years ago by a small group of like-minded folks who not only wanted to have fun together and make new and lasting friendships but also had something very important in common: they owned Monaco motorhomes.

If or when you experience a problem with your coach, it’s very helpful to have a wealth of knowledge you can tap — the knowledge of your fellow chapter members. Howard Dietmeyer, F399714, chapter president, noted, "Odds are, any problem one encounters has been experienced by another chapter member." These fellow Monaco owners often can tell each other what to do or where to go to get the problem resolved. Chapter members share notes with each other regarding the best service facilities, as well as campgrounds.

Although most chapter members live in the states touched by the majestic Rocky Mountains, including Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming, not all of them live in those states. Of the approximately 45 member families, some are from California, South Dakota, Texas, and even New York.

The chapter holds two rallies per year, one in the spring and another in the fall. They have met in Albuquerque and Farmington, New Mexico; Las Vegas, Nevada; and elsewhere. A few years ago, the spring rally took place on the Oregon coast. This year's spring event is June 2 through 6 in Bayfield, Colorado, at Bayfield Riverside RV Park. After that rally, many members will travel to Gillette, Wyoming, to attend FMCA’s 50th anniversary Family Reunion and Motorhome Showcase, June 19 through 22, where they will be among the many volunteers serving their fellow FMCA members. They are faithful volunteers at Rocky Mountain Area rallies, also.

The fall rally will be held in Camp Verde, Arizona, October 13 through 17, at Distant Drums RV Resort. All of the chapter rallies include happy hours with heavy hors d’oeuvres or potluck dinners. They also like to explore and sightsee in the area they visit. "We have a terrific group of people, with no cliques," Mr. Dietmeyer said.

Monaco-owning chapter members have greatly benefitted from the wealth of knowledge shared about these coaches, whether the malfunction deals with DC power or something much simpler, like electric windshield shades. If you own a Monaco brand motorhome — such as an Executive, Signature, or Dynasty, or any other model with a Monaco brand on it — this chapter may just be what you’ve been looking for.  Dues are only $10 per person per year.
